My Favourite Reads/Podcasts/Videos

Hey there! I just thought of creating and maintaining a collection of reads/podcasts/videos I've enjoyed reading/listening/watching as I find them. I'll keep each description under 250 words, I promise! :) Videos: 1. How to build a company where the best ideas win by Ray Dalio. Did you know that Bridgewater Associates, an investment management company that made money 23 years out of the last 26 years, employs a 'dot collector' process that allows every employee to be completely transparent about rating anybody giving a presentation, even the founder? Termed as "idea meritocracy", check out this video (Ted Talk) where Ray Dalio, Founder Bridgewater Associates explains how to build a company where the best ideas win. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXbsVbFAczg Podcasts: Reads:

Open your eyes

As I lay deep asleep until late this morning, I felt a push on my arm and heard some voice. The soft pushes continued with the voice repeating over and over. As I was about to snap at this person with half-eyes open barely being able to recognize who it was, I chose to hold myself back and clarify my vision. It was my sister wishing me good morning, smiling widely as she held a cup of warm, masala tea she made especially for me. (Couldn't have been more grateful!) Sometimes, holding yourself back (i.e. your immediate responses) and choosing to clarify the situation can help make better responses and decisions.

Getting into Reading

While writing on Quora yesterday, one of the members happened to ask me an interesting question: Do you think that children reading entertainment books are a waste of time and they should read serious educational books instead? After thinking about this for a little while, here was my response: "Hi! Thanks for asking me this question - I just realized how my parents creatively got me into reading. As a kid, I remember reading comics like Tinker and Chacha Chaudhary. Later, my parents also got me storybooks like Panchatantra and Aesop fables. I think they wanted me to first engage myself in reading (via comic books) and get habituated to it. Once I was used to reading, I automatically happened to read the educational (Panchatantra and Aesop fables) as well without them instructing. I think their strategy worked for me. :P Thanks! Watch your glasses

People say the world turns around when you fall in love. Mine did too, but it wasn't because of love, it was because of the glasses that I had apparently lost. If you've been wearing glasses for a couple of years now, you might relate to the consequences of having lost them - blurred vision, unfocused work, irritated mood all come along with it. I feel the best time, if any, to lose your glasses is at night - you can do away with blurred dreams. However, after some effort, it's a joy to be able to find your glasses back, especially if you've searched the most logical places where you could lose them and finally happened to find them at the stupidest place in the world. No - it wasn't my forehead. It was among a heap of clothes in my closet! You don't realize the value of something until it is lost and found.
